Many students come to the United States of America to study English each
year, many come to prepare themselves to enter colleges and universities
in the USA, others come to learn English while experiencing American
life, more and more people arrive to become acquainted with American
traditions and culture, literature and different kinds of art. Being one
of that people who are fascinated by the USA and its complex dichotomy
of old traditions, which differ from Russian ones, and trendsetting
culture I’m zealous about becoming one of the lucky men to experience
positive feelings from the friendly country – from the Dreamland – from
the USA.
Having passed my final exams at the university successfully and got the
certificate of degree as an interpreter, I begin to think of my future.
The wise words of the respected teacher, Natalya Vladimirovna,
immediately occurred in my mind. Once she said that if we wanted to
become competent and promising interpreters or translators we had to
study hard, firstly, and to travel to the country of native speakers in
order to improve our English language fluency, gain new professional
skills and deepen our understanding of life in the country of native
speakers, particularly in the USA. One-week journey is a good chance to
approach to my dream and have first-hand knowledge of American life.
Moreover, having such a practice people enrich themselves with
international information and interests, have a mutual cross-cultural
experience, meet people from around the world and, finally, have fun.
If I see the heart of the country with its sightseeings and bridges,
with lots of lights and fireworks, the political and financial center of
the USA, and know some traditions from native speakers and inhabitants
of that magnificent country, I will be able to tell my friends,
relatives and surrounding people about fantastic reality existing on the
other side of our Universe. I could persuade them that the English
language is not only an obligatory subject for studying in Russian
schools, for instance, but also a small step towards a big career of the
interpreter or translator. I consider the journey to be the first step
to begin my own career, to be the first practice for a better job at my
home land.
Recent world events have underscored the need to increase understanding
and to improve communication among all citizens and nations that’s why
an international exchange of ideas is essential in different spheres of
our surprising life. In conclusion, I’d like to emphasize that we have
one life which people can reward enjoying and learning as much as they
can in order to say proudly that they have lived happily not in vain. вернуться |
