Dear Sirs / Madam,
First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to make my thoughts heard and read!
I live in Volgograd, the city with a glorious and tragic war past.
I've been thinking a lot about the way to make our countries closer and less aggressive to each other. When I was studying at the University, I chose a theme for my thesis "Understanding and Cultural Interaction". We speak different languages, we live in the opposite parts of the world, but first of all, we are all human beings willing to live in a happy world without wars and conflicts. We should learn the best from each other because our countries have rich histories.
In autumn of 2001 the two of my American friends Rebekka and Kristina were in Russia. They were at my home on September, 11 when we heard the news. We were all shocked, scared and crying thinking about the horror people went through before they died in the ruins. One day we went to the monumental complex called Mamaev Kurgan devoted to the war between the USSR and Germany of 1941-1945. There's a huge monument of a crying mother holding her murdered son. Bekah took a picture of me Kristina in front of it. Later she put the photo in her album about visiting Volgograd, and wrote "These are the two future mothers, American and Russian. Let them never see and know the horror like this." Now we still call each other "sisters", and email each other every day. They call Russia their second home. Unfortunately, I have never been in the US, but I hope some day I'll be able to visit my friends like they visited me.
I think we have found our recipe of devoted friendship. The main things are understanding, respect and love. People must remember that we all are protected by one God, and have one life we need to make brighter and better, for us, for our children.
We should visit our countries, learn the languages, learn more about each other, and see how great and beautiful our nations are.
Thank you once again,
Best regards,
Tatyana вернуться |
